Team SA Youth Day Concert

Team South Africa will be hosting a charity concert at Skoobs in Montecasino on Friday the 17th of June 2016 as a “June 16 – Youth Day” celebration. This 2 hour long event will begin at 18h45 for 19h00. Entrance is a donation of anything warm (jackets, scarves, blankets etc) that will later be handed over to the St Mary’s Children’s Home. The event will feature performances ranging from comedy, singing, dance, poetry and the likes from 10-15 members of the team members who are based in Johannesburg. It will be a powerful representation of today’s youth of South Africa commemorating the Youth of 1976.

Team South Africa will be participating in the ARTS Convention in Orlando, Florida this July. This team of 60 was selected by USA talent scout – Kim Meyers – from several hundreds of auditionees.  The ARTS Convention is not merely a competition, but an educational experience boasting a week-long series of workshops,  providing highly intensive training – led by industry professionals. The team will have the opportunity to perform and audition for scouts and agents from BET, Icon Model Management, Tyler Perry Studios, Sony BMG, Universal Records and Disney to name a few.

This event is being run by a young,  performer, who is also a member of the South African team travelling to the United States. Zanda Isaacs is a 19 year old singer, dancer and actress and is extremely passionate about giving back to the community. She is a regular volunteer at the St Mary’s Children’s Home, teaching a group of children singing, drama and dance. With mentorship and guidance from  industry professionals – including the likes of director, producer and entrepreneur Gift Khumalo.

Assisting Zanda in the organization of this event is Deborah Du Plooy, owner of Skoobs, Theatre of Books – Montecasino. Du Plooy is a confident and energetic woman who is extremely passionate about supporting and uplifting South African artists and authors, attributing to her successful business. She has an extremely warm heart and loves to give back and help those in need.
