Country Style Tuna Bake

Tuna Bake
Try something different for dinner tonight! This Country Style Tuna Bake is the perfect way to spoil the family for a lunch or dinner.


  • 125g screw noodles
  • 5ml (1t) canola or olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 125 g sliced mushrooms 1/2 punnet
  • 15ml (1T) flour
  • 15ml (1T) tomato puree
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) milk
  • Pinch of dried basil
  • 1ml (1/4t) salt
  • Pepper
  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 tin tuna in brine, drained
  • 10ml (2t) grated parmesan cheese


  1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees celcius
  2. Cook the pasta in plenty of boiling, lightly salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat the oil and saute the onions and mushrooms.
  4. Blend in the flour and add the tomato puree.
  5. Mix in the milk, basil, salt and pepper. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
  6. Combine with the cooked pasta, cheese and tuna.
  7. Pour the mixture into an ovenproof dish and sprinkle with the parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
